Our
Gibraltar based holidays priced at just £677 per person
(sharing in twin room) start on Tuesday 4th March
2008. The price of £677 includes a full English breakfast, the
five day tour package and the packed lunches whilst out in the
field. You will be staying at the Eliott’s Hotel, a four
star hotel, situated centrally just off Gibraltar’s Main
Street. We would like you to be at the Hotel to meet us by
8.30pm when we will be providing you with your information
packs and also with a welcome drink and some light finger
food. The Hotel has a bar, a restaurant and a rooftop, open
air swimming pool.
We
think it is better for you to organise your own flights as you
can probably choose the best flights via internet or your
local travel agents. There are direct flights to Gibraltar
but, at present, they are only from Luton and Gatwick. There
are flights to Malaga from many UK airports and Malaga airport
is just over an hour’s drive from Gibraltar via bus or taxi.
If you require further information on flights or how to get to
the Hotel from the airport you arrive at please e-mail us.
We
will be visiting five different sites (please see our
Itinerary section) with Saturday as a rest day so you can
enjoy duty free shopping and/or visit the places of interest
that the Rock has to offer.
Gibraltar enjoys a Mediterranean type climate with dry summers
and cool winters. It is never really cold but we recommend
that you wear layers of clothing for the winter and light
cotton materials for the summer. It hardly ever rains in the
summer but when it rains in the cooler months it can be very
wet; so good, light waterproofs are recommended. For the
warmer months it is important to apply sunscreen to protect
your skin from direct sunlight as well as from bright
reflective surfaces. A good hat is also essential for the
sunnier times of year and sunglasses are recommended to reduce
glare.
The
official currency in Gibraltar is the pound sterling but you
will find that most places will accept euros and dollars
although the exchange rates may not be favourable when
converted into pounds. If paying in euros or dollars any
change will normally be given in sterling. The official
language in Gibraltar is English although most locals also
speak Spanish and Llanito, a peculiar combination of English
and Spanish. You will find the majority of the people very
friendly and helpful if you require any help.
